Production Begins at Senegal’s First Offshore Oil Project

Woodside Energy announced production has started at the Sangomar oil fields (off Senegal’s coast), marking a milestone for the country’s offshore sector. The project is expected to produce ~100,000 barrels per day.

Why it matters for Anchor Offshore:

  • This is another example of offshore E&P in Africa gaining traction — thereby increasing the addressable market for Anchor’s services (vessels, subsea engineering, equipment supply).
  • New production phases often require additional infrastructure, maintenance, inspection—areas where subsea engineering and OSV services become essential.
  • Reinforces the importance of being “on-the-ground” in Africa, and emphasizes the value of local content, logistics and operational readiness.
